History

The Faculty of Engineering of Bu-Ali Sina University, with nearly 38 years of experience, potent and experienced faculty members, convenient environment, facilities, laboratory equipment and educational workshops, possesses an especial position, particularly in the western part of the country.  The main 6 departments of engineering, including Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Materials Engineering are active in this faculty and admit students at B.A, M.A and PhD. levels in various subfields.

Currently 65 full-time faculty members, including 5 full professors, 13 associate professors, 40 assistant professors and 7 instructors engage in research activities in addition to instruction in different specialized branches. Possession of nearly 70 educational and research laboratories and workshops has led to the promotion of the level of educational and research activities of the faculty. Among these laboratories, electron microscope research laboratories that include TEM, SEM, XRF, geotechnics, environmental geotechnics, strength of materials, mechanical properties of materials and concrete equipment have an especial position from the point of view of facilities and equipment.

In recent years, an annual average of 140 research articles have been published in valid foreign and domestic journals and numerous articles have been published in national and international conferences, in addition to the publication of a remarkable number of books and patents by faculty members of the Faculty of Engineering.

So far, this faculty has introduced more than 4600 alumni in levels of associate, B.A, M.A and PhD. to the workforce, who are serving in different industrial, academic and official centers. At the moment, more than 2000 students are continuing their studies in this faculty, among whom nearly 500 students are acquiring advanced scientific subjects and doing research in order to prepare their theses.

This faculty is determined to play an effective role in the implementation of strategic plans of Bu-Ali Sina University and the comprehensive scientific plan and in meeting fundamental needs of the country by quantitative and qualitative development of education and research section and establishing logical and systematic relations with the industry in order to be able to meet the applied research needs of the industry as much as possible and be helpful in the eco-industrial development and progress of the country.

Departments of this faculty include: Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering and Materials Engineering.
