چکیده: Abstract: Experimental investigation and numerical analysis of properties of second order corrugated composite cores Sandwich structures have been used over a long time applications where the weight of the member is critical, such as packaging, civil, naval, automotive and aerospace industries due to their low mass to stiffness ratio and high impact absorption capacity. A branch of sandwich structures is the composite corrugated panels consisting of two facing sheets, which are partitioned by a trapezoidal corrugated core. The corrugated core increases the moment of inertia of sandwich panel. Materials with structural hierarchy can have significantly higher stiffness or strength to weight ratios than their single-length scale microstructure counterparts. In this thesis, second order corrugated sandwich panels are considered and tested to determine the extensional and shear rigidity of them. Tensile and flexural characteristics of corrugated laminate panels were studied using numerical and analytical methods and compared with experimental data. Laminates of glass fiber plain woven cloth were hand-laid is manufactured. First, a series of simple tension tests were performed on standard samples to evaluate the material characteristics. Next, the corrugated first and second order panels were subjected to three-point bending tests. The force-displacement graphs were recorded. The results reveal that the second order panel bear notable more bending force compared to first order one.
