چکیده: Abstract: This thesis presents a numerical study to investigate the effect of the use of fins and porous medium on increasing the melting of phase change material in the latent thermal energy storage system of two concentric pipes. Four different arrangements of the fins and three different positions of the porous medium were compared with the non-porous state without the fins. This study was limited to a two-dimensional circular cross section. The inner wall of the inner tube is heated by a heat transfer fluid at a temperature of 353.15 as a constant temperature. The results showed, The melting of the phase change material is improved using these studied techniques. The melting of the phase change material is affected by the conduction heat transfer and the natural convection heat transfer. But the main role is played by conductive heat transfer. It was also found that the melting process in the energy storage unit of two concentric tubes is significantly improved by using fins or a porous medium or a combination of fins and a porous medium.
