چکیده: Abstract: Fiber metal laminates (FMLs) are hybrid materials that are made from thin metal sheets and composite laminate. Layers are commonly bonded together by adhesive fiber-resin. Depending on the type of structure, FMLs offer excellent impact resistance, flame resistance, high hardness and good damage tolerance, etc. In this work, tensile and flexural properties of corrugated trapezoidal cores are investigated. Both flat and corrugated FMLs are first tested experimentally. The FML used in this study is made of aluminum 3105 and glass-fiber reinforced epoxy (GFRE).Finite element model of mentioned structures is provided by using ABAQUS software and validated by comparing the obtained results with experimental ones. Tensile test on the flat FML specimens according to D3039 standard, demonstrates partly nonlinear elastic behavior same as brittle material. The tensile test on corrugated specimens showed elastic- plastic behavior on force-displacement curve, due to corresponding geometric shape and variable properties. The behavior of FML in three-point bending test according to C393 standard on sandwich panels has been investigated. In addition, numerical simulation has been performed using Abaqus software and analytical model for tensile and flexural properties has been developed. The results showed a reasonable agreement with the experiments. In the last section of this work, the optimization of geometric parameters of FML sandwich panels based on genetic algorithm has been done and by taking into account linear and non-linear constraints and improvement of tensile and flexural properties of the panel has been achieved by conducting both form of single and multi-objective problems
