چکیده: Abstract: The soil under construction projects often suffers from lack of all necessary geotechnical characteristics for project implementation; the importance of research on soil improvement methods is revealed. Considering the existence of sandy soils in different areas of the country, and the problems of these types of soils, researchers have always considered appropriate improvement methods of sandy soils. Among the popular methods for improving soils, soil stabilization with different polymers and reinforcing with fibers can be referred. Among the fiber used for soil reinforcement, the usage of polymer fibers is of special importance in recent research. The results of these researches indicate that the effect of types of polymers on geotechnical properties of soil depends on different factors such as the type of soil, type of polymer, and the amount of additive in soil mixture. This study examines the effect of stabilization and reinforcement of sandy soil at the same time with Epoxy resin polymer and polyethylene fibers on standard compaction and unconfined compressive strength. In this study, 2, 4, 6, and 8% Epoxy resin with 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, and 0.8% polyethylene fibers relevant to dry weight of sand were mixed and standard compaction test and unconfined compressive strength test on samples have been carried out. In addition, in order to investigate the effect of curing time on unconfined compressive strength, specimens were prepared in 4 curing times (1, 7, 14, and 28 days). The results of the standard compaction test indicate that the addition of Epoxy resin to soil specimens, increase the dry unit weight and decreased the optimum moisture content. Also, with addition of polyethylene fibers to the soil and performing standard compaction test, maximum dry unit weight, and optimum moisture content decreased. Also, the results of unconfined compressive strength tests indicate that the addition of Epoxy resin to specimens up to 6% increased the unconfined compressive strength, reduced the rupture strain, and increased the stiffness of the specimens. Increasing the Epoxy resin more than 6% reduced the unconfined compressive strength of the specimens. According to the results, the addition of polyethylene fibers up to the optimum percentage increased the unconfined compressive strength, increased rupture strain, and decrease the stiffness of the specimens. In the other word, adding polyethylene fibers to the soil causes soils to behave more flexible.
