چکیده: Abstract: Due to climate change and reduced water reserves, the need to save this vital resource is felt more than ever. Water is an important case in the efficiency and power generation of steam power plants. There are two important factors in designing the cooling system of power plants: 1- Reducing condenser pressure which increases the generation of power and cycle efficiency 2- Maintaining pressure under different environmental conditions. In this regard, wet cooling systems are the most desirable way to achieve these two factors, but in this method, a large volume of water is consumed. Therefore, due to the significant reduction of water resources in the country, power plants are constructed with a dry cooling system, but one of the problems of this type of cooling system is the increase of condenser pressure in hot seasons so that there is a risk of crossing the permissible pressure limit. To avoid this risk, many types of research have been conducted based on which the most practical solution is to use a hybrid cooling system that uses a wet system at high temperatures in the environment to avoid the risk of condenser pressure exceeding the permissible limit, but in this case, in addition to complicating the system and the other problems, water consumption in hot seasons remains high. In this study, we investigated a new method to reduce the water consumption of steam power plants with a wet cooling system in which an absorption refrigeration system with air coolants is used. In this method, the operator of the absorption refrigeration system by absorbing part of the heat rejected from the condenser of the power plant leads to the reduction of water consumption along with the stability of the condenser pressure of the power plant under different environmental conditions. The heat required by the absorption system is supplied from the turbine bleeding. In order to maintain the efficiency, a part of the heat that is rejected in the absorption system has been tried to be recycled in the power plant cycle. By adding the absorption system, all the parameters of the power plant cycle will be changed and the cycle will work as off-design which will require cycle modeling under off-design conditions. Thermodynamic relations are modeled for the main cycle of the power plant, cooling towers, absorption refrigeration system, and modified extraction cycle by EES software. Moreover, the effect of changing environmental conditions has been studied.
