چکیده: Abstract: Loss reduction and improving the voltage profile are two key objectives in operation of active distribution networks, especially when there is a high penetration of renewable energy resources like PV systems. Due to the high R/X ratio of branches in distribution networks, active power injection through distributed renewable generation sources, may cause overvoltage in sensitive areas of the network (end buses of network). This problem limits the penetration level of renewable energy resource in distribution network and affects their benefits. In this regard, overvoltage prevention in distribution network without limiting the penetration level of PV systems is the subject of this thesis. For this purpose, it is tried to use the reactive power control capability of PV systems. In this thesis, a new reactive power control approach is proposed to eliminate these over voltages. The proposed method firstly identifies and prioritizes all buses to reactive power injection using sensitivity analysis; then, in occurrence of overvoltage, PV systems start to absorb reactive power based on their priority until all bus voltages are returned to normal range. In order to validate and confirm the performance of the proposed algorithm, it is applied on a 10-buses radial feeder with 9 PV systems, and its functionality is tested in different situations. The results show that the proposed reactive control method is able to resolve the overvoltage problem in high penetration level of PV system in distribution network. Conclusions and new proposals for future works are the last chapter of this thesis
