چکیده: Abstract: In recent decades, the growth of construction industry has led to remarkable increase in structural losses and environmental problems. A significant portion of the construction wastes is related to the reworks water footprint which has been considered by the importance of environmental issues. Water footprint is used to determine the volume of water used directly or virtually to produce a product. One of the most important issues in construction industry is the intensity of water footprint in buildings. In this thesis, the traces of blue and grey water caused by construction reworks are evaluated on the basis of the assessment of viability of the traces of water and the traces of water. Also, factors such as project delivery methods, costs and the amount of waste in the construction and construction are investigated. The water footprint is analyzed in the production phase of materials, material handling, and construction of buildings. The statistical population includes five construction materials factories and a collection of 80 residential buildings. The results show that the intensity of the water and grey water footprint in the concrete buildings is 2.18 times and 4.1 times more than the intensity of the blue and gray water footprint in the steel buildings, respectively. Also, the water footprint of construction materials, staff meals and direct water in concrete buildings is 2.22, 2.09 and 2.47 times more than steel buildings, respectively. In addition, other results show that using contract management project delivery instead of traditional project delivery can reduce the water footprint by about 50%. This thesis can help in the optimal use of water consumption in the building construction process
