چکیده: Abstract: Given that more than 70% of the Earth's surface is composed of water, the extraction of information from underwater sources, such as seas and oceans, holds immense significance for humanity. The Exploitation of information, management, and configuration of underwater environments are facilitated through the utilization of Internet of Underwater Things (IoUT) technology. The unique characteristics inherent to the underwater domain necessitate the use of batteries to power IoUT systems. However, the inability to recharge batteries and their limited capacity pose considerable challenges, leading to performance degradation as energy reserves deplete. Additionally, the use of acoustic waves for data transmission in the underwater environment requires higher energy consumption compared to other waveforms due to their limited propagation range. As a result, high energy consumption has emerged as a primary challenge for IoUT and underwater wireless sensor networks. Underwater wireless sensor networks can be regarded as a fundamental subset of IoUT. Software-defined networks offer a promising approach by providing abstraction and high flexibility, enabling improved energy management within IoUT systems. Clustering facilitates data aggregation and information compression, effectively reducing the size and number of data packets in IoUT networks. Furthermore, employing sleep/awake scheduling mechanisms allows energy-efficient deactivation of devices with lower energy requirements and no immediate need for continuous operation, thereby conserving energy and extending the lifespan of IoUT systems. This thesis presents a novel energy management framework based on software-defined networks specifically tailored for IoUT. The framework encompasses three key mechanisms: clustering, sleep/awake scheduling, and information compression. The impact of each mechanism on energy management and consumption reduction in Internet of Underwater Things based on Software Defined Networks is thoroughly investigated in the results section. The findings demonstrate that the implementation of these mechanisms effectively mitigates energy consumption while simultaneously enhancing the longevity of underwater wireless sensor networks
