چکیده: Abstract: The construction industry, due to its technical, complex, and project-based nature, requires specialized, precise, and capable human resources. In this regard, structural designers, as one of the main pillars of civil engineering projects, play an important role in the safety, quality, stability, and final success of projects. Therefore, identifying the individual and occupational factors affecting their success can be effective in improving professional performance and better human resource management in the construction industry. The main objective of this study is to examine the correlation between personality traits, job satisfaction, and career success among structural designers. The present study is applied in terms of purpose and descriptive-correlational in terms of method. The statistical population of the study includes structural designers and individuals active in the fields of structural design and construction management. Data were collected through three questionnaires measuring the Big Five personality traits, job satisfaction, and career success. For relational analysis, the responses of 51 participants who could be matched across all three questionnaires were used as the basis of analysis. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Cronbach’s alpha coefficient, Pearson correlation test, and linear regression. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between job satisfaction and career success among structural designers. Positive and significant relationships were also observed between overall personality traits and both job satisfaction and career success. Among the Big Five personality dimensions, extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and emotional stability showed positive and significant relationships with job satisfaction. Agreeableness and openness to experience were also positively and significantly related to career success. The regression results indicated that job satisfaction and overall personality traits were significant predictors of career success, and the model explained approximately 42% of the variance in career success. Based on the findings of the study, it can be concluded that the career success of structural designers is not limited only to technical knowledge and specialized skills; rather, job satisfaction, personality traits, work interactions, and environmental conditions also play a role. Therefore, the attention of managers of design offices and engineering companies to job satisfaction, communication skills, individual characteristics, and opportunities for professional development can provide the basis for improving the success and productivity of structural designers.
